How VRP Consulting Scaled Operations and Became an Accounting Seed Power Partner

When your business is advising clients on major digital transformation initiatives, credibility is everything. That’s exactly why VRP Consulting, one of the largest independent partners in the Salesforce ecosystem, decided to move its own finance team off QuickBooks and onto Accounting Seed.

With over 25 years of experience, VRP has earned a reputation for delivering scalable, high-impact Salesforce solutions across many industries. The company holds multiple Salesforce Partner Innovation Awards and has a global consulting footprint. But behind the scenes, their own accounting processes were showing signs of strain.

“QuickBooks worked for a time, but we were increasingly running into the limitations of working in different systems,” explains Volodymyr Khomych, Financial Controller at VRP. “We wanted to streamline our own operations as a way to better serve our clients.”

By adopting Accounting Seed internally, VRP didn’t just upgrade their accounting system. They laid the foundation to become a true expert in Accounting Seed, the #1 Salesforce-native accounting platform, for its client base.

From growing pains to strategic gains

VRP’s transition away from QuickBooks was spearheaded by CFO Pieter Philipsen, who joined the company in 2019 with a mandate to help lead and scale the business. With decades of experience in the IT services sector, he immediately saw the need for better financial integration.

“We had grown as an organization, but our accounting processes hadn’t,” Philipsen says. “As a Salesforce-centric company, it didn’t make sense for our finance team to not also being working in the same platform our consultants use every day.”

Should we say something like “As experts in the Salesforce ecosystem, Philipsen and Khomych, understood the value of having multiple business functions on the same platform. Even so, the decision to adopt a Salesforce-native accounting solution came after careful evaluation of both technical fit and long-term strategy. It quickly became clear that having their financial and CRM data in one system would unlock significant process improvements, such as:

  • Real-time visibility into financial performance
  • Automated workflows across both their Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes
  • Seamless data alignment with sales, project management, and finance
  • Improved audit tracking and compliance
  • Ability to easily report across multiple business entities

And, crucially, the shift gave VRP’s own consultants firsthand experience with the product they were recommending to clients.

Turning implementation into a core strength

Sergey Glebko, Senior Consultant at VRP, played a central role in implementing Accounting Seed internally. A self-proclaimed veteran of the platform, Glebko has participated in nearly every Accounting Seed project at VRP.

“Our developers and consultants collaborated closely with finance from the start,” Glebko says. “We used our own implementation to build reusable blueprints and best practices we now apply with clients.”

That tight collaboration paid off. VRP’s internal rollout helped the company to support common transition pain points that others often face when moving from QuickBooks or other legacy systems, including:

  • Heavy reliance on spreadsheets
  • Limited ability to track revenue by product line or client
  • Manual invoice creation and reconciliation
  • Disconnected sales and financial data slowing down reporting

Using Accounting Seed, VRP eliminated these issues internally and is now equipped to guide clients through the same journey with speed and credibility.

A finance team that innovates like consultants

One of the biggest advantages of Accounting Seed, according to Khomych, is the flexibility it gives his accounting team to build and iterate without bottlenecks.

“What excites me most is that we can have an idea, then create and test a working solution inside Accounting Seed with our team,” he says. “That level of agility just wasn’t possible with QuickBooks.”

Instead of waiting on IT or navigating third-party integrations, the finance team now builds automations and reports directly in Salesforce. They’ve created custom workflows for approvals, streamlined AR and AP processes, and added dashboards that bring key performance indicators front and center.

“Now we don’t just ‘run reports’, we can interact with them,” Khomych adds. “We’re not chasing data anymore. We’re using it.”

Better internal processes, better client outcomes

Since making the switch to Accounting Seed, VRP has seen benefits that go far beyond their own balance sheet:

  • Financial reporting time has decreased significantly, from weeks to just days
  • Entering exchange rates went from eight hours a month to 2 hours.
  • Managing customer invoices used to take 40 hours per month. With custom logic developed on Accounting Seed, VRP now spends zero time here—it’s fully automated.
  • Invoice accuracy has improved, eliminating the need to manually cross-check systems and reducing client friction
  • Automation has freed up finance team capacity for more strategic work

“In total when we look at the hours saved, it results in one person’s workload. That’s how much time we are saving,” said Glebko.

That firsthand experience has led to successful Accounting Seed implementations for their clients across the U.S. and Europe. And VRP is just getting started.

“Being an Accounting Seed customer ourselves gives us unmatched credibility,” says Philipsen. “When clients ask how something works, we can show them what WE do, not just explain it.”

Advice for companies considering a switch

All three leaders at VRP agree: migrating your accounting system is a big decision, but one that can deliver massive returns when done right.

Philipsen’s advice for other CFOs? “Look beyond the features. Think about how your finance team collaborates across departments. If you’re on Salesforce already, it makes no sense to keep accounting siloed.”

For Glebko, success comes down to planning. “Involve your finance team early, and work with people who understand both the tech and the business side.”

And Khomych adds: “Don’t be afraid to innovate. Accounting Seed gives you the tools to customize and automate without writing code.”

What’s next for VRP?

Looking ahead, VRP plans to continue refining its internal processes while expanding its Accounting Seed practice globally. With more companies realizing the value of a fully connected financial system, the demand for Salesforce-native accounting from their client base is only growing.

“Accounting Seed has helped us become a better business and a better partner,”Glebko concludes. “We’re proud to use it and even prouder to implement it for our clients.”
