Virtual Coffee Breaks
We all miss those coffee breaks in the lunchroom where we could catch up with coworkers in different departments. They don’t have to end! It’s important to keep in touch with coworkers or friends/family. Take these coffee breaks virtually to bring everyone back together no matter where they are at. Make sure you turn your video on for these, too. While it can be awkward at first, it makes this virtual experience seem more real. In addition to some time with a few of your close work friends, try to meet with coworkers you don’t get to interact with often. This is a great opportunity to connect with the much bigger company family! And don’t limit yourself to coffee. Grab some tea, water, soda, whatever you may want!
Virtual Happy Hours
It seems like just the other day we were all debating on where to go for that after-work happy hour. Even though times have made that impossible to do in person, we can still make do with what we have! While virtual happy hours aren’t the same, they are a great way to catch up with friends, family, and coworkers. Set up a time after work that you used to do happy hour and invite all the same people. It’s a great way to wind down and share laughs with friends and family since we can’t do it as we used too.
Family Zoom Calls
Do we get together with our family? Do we not? The answer is we don’t know, but from what health officials are suggesting, it’s better to not. So why not take those visits virtually and show your love and appreciation for your family through a Zoom call! It’s not the same, but we have to adjust to the new norm of things. Allowing your grandparents, or parents to see you virtually will brighten their days. Going virtual allows them to feel like they are with you and connect and catch up. In a way, virtual gatherings help remove distractions so you guys have even deeper discussions and bonding sessions
Turn Video on During All Meetings
While working from home has made it easy to stay in your PJs or work from your bed, it’s important to engage with your co-workers on a personal level and turn your video on during meetings. By doing this, you and your co-workers will be able to feel more connected and will simulate the office setting a little more. It also makes meetings more personable and lets you have clearer communication.
Virtual Movie Night – Netflix’s Party Feature To Stream A Movie Within Groups
Netflix has added a great feature recently called ‘Netflix Party.’ This allows customers to group watch a movie through Netflix and chat about the movie through the app. Get together with your group of friends or family members and plop in front of the tv and choose a movie that you all would like. It’s not the same old movie night that we are used to having, but you will be able to experience the movie together even when you’re apart.
Virtual Game Night
Everyone loves a good game night! Don’t let social distancing stand in your way. There are plenty of games out there that have gone digital so that you can continue with game nights through a Zoom call. Check out Good Housing for a variety of games ranging from a more mature crowd to games for the whole family. Start your weekend out right with a night of fun. Virtual games could also be used for businesses as a way to foster a sense of comradery or for team building exercises.
